Since the launch of the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 last year, Nintendo has been diligently working behind the scenes to ensure that physical and digital libraries transition seamlessly to its next-generation hardware. While the system’s backwards compatibility architecture has been highly praised, perfect emulation for thousands of legacy titles is a monumental task.
To address this, Nintendo has rolled out its June 2026 backwards compatibility update, introducing another wave of crucial hotfixes for several beloved Nintendo Switch titles running on the new hardware.
While this month’s list doesn’t feature quite as many massive blockbusters as previous updates, it brings vital stability and audio patches to several popular titlesâÂÂmost notably Yacht Club Games’ critically acclaimed platformer, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove.
Fixed Games: The June 2026 Backwards Compatibility List
The standout fix in this batch belongs to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. Previously, Nintendo had flagged the title for persistent audio stuttering and missing sound effects in specific zones of the game. Thanks to this update, players can now enjoy Shovel Knight’s iconic chiptune soundtrack exactly as intended.
Here is the complete list of games that have received backwards compatibility fixes in the June 2026 update:
- Artifact Seekers
- Landing Hero HanedaÃÂ787
- Raiden IV x Mikado Remix
- Rico
- Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove (Resolved: Audio issues in various levels)
- Skateboard Drifting with Maxwell Cat: The Game Simulator
- Strania: The Stella Machina EX
Known Issues: Games Currently Under Review
As with any massive legacy library transition, Nintendo’s engineering team continues to identify and catalogue performance bottlenecks. The company has updated its list of titles that are playable but currently exhibit performance or audio bugs on the Switch 2:
- Bar Stella Abyss (Only available in the Japanese region): Players may experience minor to moderate audio synchronization issues.
- Monster Menu: The ScavengerâÂÂs Cookbook: Sound effects may fail to trigger in specific areas, and voice lines may occasionally fall out of sync with character animations.
If you plan to play these titles on your Switch 2, you may want to wait for future firmware patches or game-specific updates for an optimal experience.
Fully Unsupported Games
Unfortunately, due to fundamental differences in hardware rendering pipelines or proprietary engines, a small handful of games are unable to run on the Switch 2 hardware. Nintendo has added two new titles to the fully unsupported list:
- Drakkar Crew
- Kiyo: Bunny Tyranny
Commitment to Legacy Preservation
Nintendo’s proactive approach to backwards compatibility has been a cornerstone of the Switch 2’s immense market success, which recently capped its first full year in the US with nearly 6 million units sold. By constantly releasing incremental compatibility updates over the past year, Nintendo continues to safeguard physical media and digital purchases for its massive player base of original Switch owners.
